In this presentation, we will delve into the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, focusing on its practical uses as well as its limitations. We will delve into how AI is transforming diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient care, while also addressing common misconceptions about what AI can and cannot achieve. The session is designed to be highly interactive and thought-provoking, inviting active audience engagement and fostering lively discussions on the benefits, ethical considerations, and controversies surrounding AI in the medical field. Our aim is to offer a comprehensive understanding of AI’s evolving role in healthcare, highlighting both its potential and the challenges it presents.
Objectives:
1. Explore early original of Artificial Intelligence.
2. Understand the basic mechanics of 2 forms of Artificial Intelligence in current use.
3. Create awareness of controversies surrounding Artificial Intelligence in the healthcare system and why these outcomes are logical results.
Speaker: Dr. Thomas Benzoni is an accomplished Emergency Medicine physician with over 30 years of experience. Based in Des Moines, Iowa, he is affiliated with several hospitals, including Boone County Hospital and UnityPoint Health-Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Dr. Benzoni has extensive expertise in Disaster Medicine, encompassing both fieldwork and instructional roles. His commitment extends beyond clinical practice into the realms of medical governance and politics at both local and state levels. Additionally, he has a keen interest in Medical Informatics, focusing on Human Factors and the dynamics of system success and failure. Dr. Benzoni earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and specializes in Emergency Medicine, EMS, Disaster Medicine, Search and Rescue.
