Participants will review the current practice patterns surrounding Opioid Use Disorder and Stimulant Use Disorder, in addition to reviewing emerging patterns in drug use and supply.
Objectives:
- Develop a framework for managing opioid use disorder given increased complexity with fentanyl use
- Describe best practices for managing stimulant use disorder
- Recognize emerging intoxicants and understand basics of treatment
Speaker: Dr. Alex Hubbell is a dedicated physician with a passion for advancing addiction medicine. After completing his medical education at the Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, he trained in family medicine at North Memorial in Minneapolis, graduating in 2016. Following a year in general family practice in Des Moines, Alex pursued a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the University of Minnesota, which he completed in 2019. Currently, he works at the Riverside Addiction Medicine clinic, where he focuses on integrating healthcare systems to empower providers at all levels. Alex believes that managing addiction can be an accessible, enjoyable, and fulfilling aspect of care, helping to reduce burnout among healthcare professionals.
