It is no secret that the physician shortage in Iowa is reaching a crisis level in may corners of our state and is only projected to get worse. The AMA estimates that over the course of the next decade, the United States will face a deficit of 124,000 physicians in the United States. To help combat this challenge, Iowa Medical Society is hosting “Operation I.O.W.A.” a gathering of key physicians and healthcare executives from across the state to focus on solutions to combat the physician shortage in Iowa. This invitation only event will be moderated by a professional facilitator and will include a series of breakout sessions that will challenge participants to craft solution-oriented recommendations to mitigate the physician shortage crisis. On the eve of the summit, we will gather together for a special dinner starting at 6:00 PM. The fellowship that Thursday evening should not be missed - and is an important part of the experience.
Topics the day will cover:
Early Pipeline Recommendations: Starting & Staying in Iowa
Practice Environment Recommendations: Preventing Relocation out of Iowa
Preventing Retirement & Coming out of Retirement
